Official Error Formula — Verbatim from 2025 Notification

HCRAJ Steno Computer Speed Test marks proportionally milte hain — correctly typed words ke proportion mein.

Marks Formula: Marks = (Actual Correct Words × Max Marks) ÷ Total Dictated Words. Actual correct words = total dictated − actual committed mistakes.

Full Mistakes: Omission of words/figure · Substitution of wrong word/figure · Misspelling. Partial Mistakes: Error/omission in punctuation · Wrong capital/small letters · Wrong paragraph indentation. Two partial = one full mistake.

5% Margin Rule: "The margin of 5% mistakes may be allowed. If mistakes exceed 5% of the dictated passage, the excess over 5% shall be deducted from the total dictated words and speed recalculated."

Worked example: 420-word passage, 18 mistakes. 5% margin = 21. Since 18 < 21, no deduction. Correct words = 402. Speed Test marks = (402 × 50) ÷ 420 = 47.86 / 50. With 30 mistakes: excess = 9, marks = (390 × 50) ÷ 411 = 47.44. Accuracy matters significantly.
