Why Learn Remington for Marathi?
The Remington Marathi layout carries the classic Remington typewriter key arrangement into Devanagari — the same standard used through CDAC’s GIST / ISM software in government offices across Maharashtra. It is the layout the MPSC Group C typing skill test (Tax Assistant, Bailiff, Clerk, Clerk Typist) is conducted on.
The key mapping is the same Devanagari Remington arrangement used for Hindi — Marathi adds its own characters like ळ (Shift + L) and ऱ (Shift + J) in the same positions. If you already type Remington Hindi, the muscle memory carries straight over; only the भाषा changes.
The most important rule
ि (short-i matra) is typed BEFORE the consonant in Remington. To type “कि” you press the ि key first, then क — it renders in the right order on screen automatically.
The ‘K’ key rule
In Marathi Remington typing you complete certain letters using the ‘K’ key rather than Shift + A — a Remington-specific quirk that trips candidates up on exam day. Drill it early; the lesson key hints highlight it as you type.
